Genuine DSM222 / DSM-CBF Fourth-Generation Gear Shift Module for Mercedes

The DSM222 / DSM-CBF Fourth-Generation Gear Shift Module is a critical replacement Direct Select Module (DSM) designed for Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Known as the 4th generation steering column gear shifter, this module resolves notorious failures in earlier versions, such as the vehicle being stuck in “Park,” the key refusing to release from the Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS), or unresponsive gear selection. Built with upgraded internal components to prevent premature wear of the parking lock cable mechanism and electrical contacts, this unit ensures reliable communication between the shifter, EIS, and transmission. It is fully compatible with Mercedes FBS4 security protocols, requiring professional programming and SCN coding via XENTRY to sync with your vehicle's immobilizer.

Function

• Electronic Gear Selection: Relays the driver's shift commands (P, R, N, D) directly to the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) via a shift-by-wire system.
• Parking Lock Actuation: Electronically and mechanically controls the transmission parking pawl to securely lock and unlock the vehicle in “Park”.
• EIS/Key Interlock Management: Communicates directly with the Electronic Ignition Switch to ensure the key can only be removed when the vehicle is safely in “Park” and the engine is off.
• FBS4 Immobilizer Integration: Contains the security gateway necessary for FBS4-equipped vehicles, preventing unauthorized starting and shifting.
• Steering Wheel Paddle Support: Processes input from steering wheel paddle shifters (where applicable) for manual gear overriding.
• Diagnostic Feedback: Relays shift position data to the instrument cluster and allows diagnostic scanners to read fault codes and live shifter data.
