The goal of this post is to assist DIYers or in-house technicians in configuring BMW Rheingold ISTA with BMW ICOM. You can also use BMW K+DCAN or BMW ENET or Enet WiFi Adapter to run the BMW Rheingold ISTA software.
- Navigate to the properties of the network adapter used for the connection, then to the “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” properties, and then enter 169.254.1.1 for “IP address” and 255.255.0.0 for “Subnet mask.”
-
If VMware is installed, launch Virtual Network Editor and disconnect any adapters with Subnet Address 169.254.0.0 from the host.
-
Open Notepad and look for “Port = 6801” in TCP settings in “C:EDIABASBINEDIABAS.INI”
-
Connect the car’s ICOM to the PC.
-
Now, launch BMW Rheingold ISTA via the start menu shortcut, wait until it boots, and then press the settings button.
-
Choose the “VCI Config” tab and “HO-ICOM/ENET local and ISIS network,” then click “OK.”
-
Select “Operations,” then “Read Out Vehicle Data,” and finally “Complete Identification.”
